Relaxation in a Fuzzy Dark Matter Halo. II. Self-consistent Kinetic Equations

چکیده
Fuzzy dark matter (FDM) is composed of ultra-light bosons having a de Broglie wavelength that comparable to the size stellar component galaxies at typical galactic velocities. FDM behaves like cold on large scales. However, scale wavelength, an halo exhibits density fluctuations lead relaxation, process similar two-body relaxation occurs in classical gravitational N-body systems and described by Fokker–Planck equation. We derive analog kinetic equation, which describes evolution velocity distribution spatially homogeneous halo. show predicted our equation matches numerical solutions coupled Schrödinger–Poisson equations. also determine dielectric function dispersion relation for linear waves

Weighing the Dark Matter Halo
The dark matter problem will be solved only when all of the dark matter is accounted for. Although wimps may be discovered in direct detection experiments soon, we will not know what fraction of the dark matter halo they compose until we measure their local density. In this talk, I will offer a novel method to determine the mass of a wimp from direct detection experiments alone using kinematica...
متن کاملSelf-consistent Massive Disks in Triaxial Dark Matter Halos
Galactic disks in triaxial dark matter halos become deformed by the elliptical potential in the plane of the disk in such a way as to counteract the halo ellipticity. We develop a technique to calculate the equilibrium configuration of such a disk in the combined disk-halo potential, which is based on the method of Jog but accounts for the radial variation in both the halo potential and the dis...
متن کاملSelf-Consistent Theory of Halo Mergers - II: CDM Power Spectra
We place additional constraints on the three parameters of the dark matter halo merger rate function recently proposed by Parkinson, Cole & Helly by utilizing Smoluchowski’s coagulation equation, which must be obeyed by any binary merging process which conserves mass. We find that the constraints from Smoluchowski’s equation are degenerate, limiting to a thin plane in the three dimensional para...
متن کاملQuantum Kinetic Equations and Dark Matter Abundances Reconsidered
Starting from a Caldeira-Leggett model for the interaction of a system with an environment, Joichi, Matsumoto, and Yoshimura have reconsidered the derivation of the quantum Boltzmann equation. They find an extra term that accounts for the effects of virtual particles, and which drastically changes the results for relic densities of stable, weakly interacting massive particles (WIMPs), and for t...
متن کاملDid VV 29 collide with a dark Dark-Matter halo?
Westerbork Radio Synthesis Telescope observation of the galaxy VV 29=Arp 188=UGC 10214 shows that there are at least three distinct dynamical components whose kinematics can be traced in 21cm line emission. The system appears to be the result of a galaxy-galaxy interaction. We identify a sufficient number of dynamical elements containing baryons (stars and neutral gas) that there is no compelli...
