Radiofrequency Ablation for Chronic Posterior Sacroiliac Joint Complex Pain: A Comprehensive Review
نویسندگان
چکیده
Abstract Radiofrequency ablation of the sacral lateral branches targets innervation posterior sacroiliac ligaments and portion joint. These structures are also collectively referred to as joint complex. This review will discuss current diagnostic block paradigms selection criteria for branch radiofrequency ablation, varying techniques technologies utilized updates on clinical outcome literature. The evidence suggests that can provide relief complex pain, but literature is limited by variability in criteria, specific nerves targeted types technology studies.

Evidence-based Review of Radiofrequency Ablation Techniques for Chronic Sacroiliac Joint Pain
The primary function of this ligamentous system is to bolster stability while allowing for adequate range of motion in multiple planes of movement. The SI joint is further supported by a network of muscles that generate stabilizing forces across the pelvic bones. These muscles include the gluteus maximus, piriformis, and biceps femoris. Their connection to the SI joint ligaments enables effecti...
متن کاملA New Radiofrequency Ablation Procedure to Treat Sacroiliac Joint Pain.
BACKGROUND Low back pain may arise from disorders of the sacroiliac joint in up to 30% of patients. Radiofrequency ablation (RFA) of the nerves innervating the sacroiliac joint has been shown to be a safe and efficacious strategy. OBJECTIVES We aimed to develop a new RFA technique to relieve low back pain secondary to sacroiliac joint disorders. STUDY DESIGN Methodology development with val...
متن کاملRadiofrequency Neurotomy for Sacroiliac Joint Pain: A Prospective Study
Background: The sacroiliac joint (SIJ) is an important cause of chronic low back pain, implicated in 15% 30% of all cases. While radiofrequency neurotomy (RFN) is the interventional treatment of choice for spinal pain originating from the facet joints, fewer studies have investigated its potential for treating SIJ pain, and its long-term efficacy is unknown. Objectives: To obtain a real-world v...
متن کاملEndoscopic Radiofrequency Ablation of the Sacroiliac Joint Complex in the Treatment of Chronic Low Back Pain: A Preliminary Study of Feasibility and Efficacy of a Novel Technique
Background. Radiofrequency ablation (RFA) is a less invasive technique for treatment of sacroiliac joint (SIJ) pain. Objective. To evaluate the feasibility and efficacy of endoscope-guided RFA for the treatment of CLBP from the SIJ complex. Methods. In this retrospective study, the medical records of 17 patients who underwent endoscope-guided RFA of the SIJ complex were reviewed. A bipolar radi...
متن کاملSacroiliac joint pain: a comprehensive review of anatomy, diagnosis, and treatment.
Sacroiliac (SI) joint pain is a challenging condition affecting 15% to 25% of patients with axial low back pain, for which there is no standard long-term treatment. Recent studies have demonstrated that historical and physical examination findings and radiological imaging are insufficient to diagnose SI joint pain. The most commonly used method to diagnose the SI joint as a pain generator is wi...
