Productivity loss amid invisible pollution

Ground-level ozone is a continuing problem worldwide, but there insufficient research about the influence of pollution on labor productivity in developing countries. Couriers are important for e-commerce and rapidly express delivery industry around world. Yet, due to their typical outdoor working environments, they susceptible health effects pollution. We investigate effect worker service sector using unique panel dataset courier from top-five company China. Using an instrumental variable constructed nearby upwind cities, we find that 1 standard deviation increase daily decreases by 6.8%. The same over previous 30 day period 23.7%. Our findings emphasize under-researched part socioeconomic costs pollution, call policy attention coordinated management particulate matters
