Postpartum Vitamin-D Deficiency and its Relations with Sociodemographic Factors

Background: Deficiency of Vitamin D or 25(OH) cholecalciferol is a severe health problem worldwide. essential for calcium and bone metabolism protects against various autoimmune disorders, cardiovascular diseases, chronic infections, cancers, infertility. It also plays vital role in pregnancy. During pregnancy, the fetus acquires their vitamin from mother r first few months life after delivery, particularly breastfed infants. infants can lead to rickets, respiratory allergic heart failure.
 Aims Objective: To investigate prevalence deficiency postpartum period study its relation with sociodemographic characteristics patients.
 Materials Methods: This was cross-sectional observational conducted over one year. Sociodemographic characters serum concentrations 25(OH)D were compared.
 Results: total 550 patients enrolled. The mean age 26.5 years, around 58% peri-urban area, maximum number primiparous. Around 90% did not have any sun exposure on regular basis. 59% enrolled either unbooked had only antenatal visit. plasma concentration 27.6ng/mL. No association found between factors studied concentration.
