Polystyrene nanoplastics mediated the toxicity of silver nanoparticles in zebrafish embryos

چکیده
The widespread distribution of nanoplastics and nanomaterials in aquatic environments is great concern. Nanoplastics have been found to modulate the toxicity other environmental pollutants organisms, while few studies focused on their influences nanomaterials. Thus, this study evaluated polystyrene (PS) silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) zebrafish ( Danio rerio ) embryos, including acute toxicity, oxidative stress, apoptosis, immunotoxicity, metabolic capability. results showed that presence PS could act as a carrier co-existing AgNPs waters. release ratio Ag + from was up 4.23%. lethal effects embryos were not significantly changed by co-added nanoplastics. Whereas, alterations gene expression related antioxidant capability sod1 , cat mt2 mtf-1 cox1 caused enhanced nanoplastics, which simultaneously lowered apoptosis immunotoxicity caspase9 nfkβ cebp il-1β induced AgNPs. It suggests suppressed AgNPs-induced genotoxicity zebrafish. released may be responsible for zebrafish, subsequent absorption agglomeration alleviate toxicity.

Molecular Mechanisms of Toxicity of Silver Nanoparticles in Zebrafish Embryos
Silver nanoparticles cause toxicity in exposed organisms and are an environmental health concern. The mechanisms of silver nanoparticle toxicity, however, remain unclear. We examined the effects of exposure to silver in nano-, bulk-, and ionic forms on zebrafish embryos (Danio rerio) using a Next Generation Sequencing approach in an Illumina platform (High-Throughput SuperSAGE). Significant alt...
متن کاملIn Vivo Toxicity of Silver Nanoparticles and Silver Ions in Zebrafish (Danio rerio)
The influence of water chemistry on characterised polyvinyl pyrrolidone- (PVP-) coated silver nanoparticles (81 nm) was investigated. NaCl solution series of 100-800 mg L(-1) lead to initial and temporal increase in nanoparticles size, but agglomeration was limited. pH variation (5-8) had only minor influence on the hydrodynamic particle size. Acute toxicity of nanosivler to zebrafish (Danio re...
متن کاملThe role of chorion on toxicity of silver nanoparticles in the embryonic zebrafish assay
OBJECTIVES This study was designed to investigate how the size- and surface coating-dependent toxicity of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) is influenced by the presence and absence of the chorion in an embryonic zebrafish assay. METHODS Normal and dechorinated embryos were exposed to four different AgNPs, 20 or 110 nm in size, with polypyrrolidone (PVP) or citrate surface coatings in a standard z...
متن کاملToxicity of Silver Nanoparticles in Aquatic Ecosystems: Salinity as the Main Cause in Reducing Toxicity
Background: In recent years, silver nanoparticles due to their antimicrobial properties, have formed about 56% of nanoparticles global production. Since the released nanoparticles ultimately enter water ecosystems, their maximum toxic effects are magnified in aquatic ecosystems. The aim of this study is to show how salinity can decrease the toxic effects of silver nanoparticles on exposed rai...
متن کاملYeast Mediated Synthesis of Silver Nanoparticles
A green low-cost and reproducible yeast mediated synthesis of silver nanoparticles is reported. The synthesis is performed at room temperature. X-ray and transmission electron microscopy analyses are performed to ascertain the formation of Ag nanoparticles. Nanoparticles almost spherical in shape having a size of 6-20 nm are found.
