Polyisocyanurate Foam Pyrolysis and Flame Spread Modeling

Polyisocyanurate (PIR) foam is a robust thermal insulation material utilized widely in the modern construction. In this work, flammability of one representative example was studied systematically using experiments and modeling. The decomposition analyzed through thermogravimetric analysis, differential scanning calorimetry, microscale combustion calorimetry. transport properties pyrolyzing were evaluated Controlled Atmosphere Pyrolysis Apparatus II experiments. Cone calorimetry tests also carried out on samples to quantify contribution blowing agent (contained within foam) its flammability, which found be significant.
