Plasma vitamin K1 concentrations in cystic fibrosis.
Plasma concentrations of vitamin K1 were similar in 37 patients with cystic fibrosis (median 46 ng/l) and 16 controls (49 ng/l). The plasma concentrations were lower than those previously described in adults, but higher than in neonates. There was no association between an increase in prothrombin time and vitamin K1 plasma concentration.
متن کاملEnantiospecific ketoprofen concentrations in plasma after oral and intramuscular administration in growing pigs
BACKGROUND Ketoprofen is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug which has been widely used for domestic animals. Orally administered racemic ketoprofen has been reported to be absorbed well in pigs, and bioavailability was almost complete. The objectives of this study were to analyze R- and S-ketoprofen concentrations in plasma after oral (PO) and intra muscular (IM) routes of administration, a...
متن کاملPlasma concentrations of the oxime Pralidoxime Mesylate (P2S) after repeated oral and intramuscular administration.
The use of the oxime P2S as intravenous therapy for organophosphorus anticholinesterase poisoning is well known. In emergency situations this route of administration may prove impractical due to severe symptoms of anticholinesterase poisoning and therefore the intramuscular route is to be preferred. The absolute intramuscular dose of P2S per man, recommended as necessary for adequate therapy of...
متن کاملEffects of oral and intramuscular vitamin K prophylaxis on vitamin K1, PIVKA-II, and clotting factors in breast fed infants.
A randomised clinical trial was conducted to establish the effects of oral and intramuscular administration of vitamin K at birth on plasma concentrations of vitamin K1, proteins induced by vitamin K absence (PIVKA-II), and clotting factors. Two groups of about 165 healthy breast fed infants who received at random 1 mg vitamin K1 orally or intramuscularly after birth were studied at 2 weeks and...
متن کاملEffect of Heat Application during Intramuscular Injection of Vitamin K in Pain Prevention in Neonates
Background: Several modalities have been proposed to reduce procedural pain in neonates. This study was conducted to determine whether heat of a non-human source might help with pain management in infants. Methods: In this clinical trial, 40 full-term healthy neonates in their first hours of life were randomly divided into two groups of intervention and control. The control group was put under a...
