Photodegradation of methylene blue dye by hematite-biochar composite prepared from Dendrocalamus asper using microwave-assisted pyrolysis (MAP)

Abstract Petung bamboo (Dendrocalamus asper) stem-based hematite-biochar composite (HBC) has been synthesized using microwave-assisted pyrolysis (MAP) to replace conventional pyrolysis. The sawdust contains 19.8-26.6% lignin and cellulose as much 4.24-5.36% so that it can be used precursors in biochar preparation. In general, bamboo-based a low adsorption capacity. this study, was modified by hematite (Fe 2 OH 3 ) increase its ability dye removal through the photocatalytic-adsorption process. Biochar prepared MAP process impregnated with FeCl Fe SO 4 compounds produce HBC. performance of HBC then tested methylene blue variations solution acidity level, duration, starting concentration. results show higher (90.56%) than (84.85%). At an duration 240 minutes level (pH) 9, best absorbed.
