Pediatric resident education in pediatric cardiology – A needs assessment

Determining the topics general pediatric residents are taught during an inpatient cardiology rotation must be selected based on numerous factors, including resident career goals, core for board exams, and educator preferences. This study aims to determine preferred concepts of both learners educators as well teaching modalities while rotation. All eligible in Children's National Hospital residency program who had completed a fellows attendings were asked complete survey. Participation was voluntary. Respondents answer questions related perceived effectiveness applicability curriculum, specifically inquiring about methods teaching, level taught, utility selected. Forty-seven (44 %) 106 participants Seventeen unique ranked. The highest rated included congenital heart disease, murmurs, cardiac physiology, ECG interpretation, syncope/dizziness. Participants reported satisfaction with whiteboard bedside teaching. demonstrates strong correlation between what perceive should prepare them their intended future goals. These data provide framework, concepts, continued development reassessment rotations optimally foundation cardiology.
