Pedagogic Interest Group: a novel and proven collaborative, adhocracy research group structure

Background: Teaching is a core activity for universities, and pedagogic research essential improving student experience, staff satisfaction, REF TEF scores. Pedagogic often performed as secondary area or by part-time staff, requiring good collaboration. Existing structures in universities result falling through the gaps quality work improvements to be missed. Aim: To develop clear flexible structure improve participation output of School Pharmacy Biomedical Sciences at University Central Lancashire (UCLan). Methods: A collaborative adhocracy called Interest Group (PIG) was created January 2020. It designed allow collaborative, projects easily set up any member staff. The group supervises organises team people each project, drawing on all previously involved staff's expertise contacts an initial project meeting organised independent chair. Each runs independently, with further help available from chairs. Results: Under PIG structure, seven have been undertaken less than one year, two papers published, under review, preparation, abstract accepted international conference, fifteen funded undergraduate research projects completed. Part-time teaching are more research. Internally, three departments externally, other UK collaboratively projects. Conclusion: works depends continued engagement least chairs impartiality transparency.
