Orientation dependence of transformation induced plasticity in high carbon bainitic steel

The crystallographic orientation dependence of the transformation induced plasticity (TRIP) in high carbon bainitic steel was studied. 0.6% C-2.0% Si-1% Cr steels were austenitized at two conditions to obtain different size prior-austenite grains. Subsequently, they austempered evolve structure composed mainly ferrite and retained austenite. characteristic this sample is that it has much larger amount content compared with conventional low alloyed TRIP steels. sizes mean grain show strength large ductility. measurement electron back scattering diffraction (EBSD) samples both before after tensile test clarified austenite transformed while grains having nearly parallel <111> kept remaining fracture. This change indicates its axis near <001> preferential for deformation-induced martensitic transformation. behavior found sizes.
