Optical lattice for a tripodlike atomic level structure

چکیده

Standard optical potentials use off-resonant laser standing wave induced AC-Stark shift. In a recent development [Phys. Rev. Lett. {\bf 117}, 233001 (2016)] three-level scheme in $\Lambda$ configuration coupled coherently by resonant fields was introduced leading to an effective lattice with subwavelength potential peaks. Here as extension of that work four level atomic setup the tripod is used create spin $1/2$-like two-dimensional dark-space 1D motion and presence external gauge fields. Most interestingly for possible application, lifetime dark subspace up two orders magnitude larger than similar system. The model quite flexible lattices significant nearest, next-nearest, or next-next-nearest hopping rates, $J_1,J_2,J_3$ opening new intriguing possibilities study, e.g. frustrated systems. characteristic Wannier functions lead also type inter-site interactions not realizable typical lattices.

A Novel Structure for Optical Channel Drop Filter using Two-Dimensional Photonic Crystals with Square Lattice

In the present paper a novel structure for optical channel drop filter (CDF) based on photonic crystal ring resonator with circular core has been proposed. In order to design the proposed CDF, the plan wave expansion (PWE) method is applied for calculation of band structure and photonic band gap while the transmission characteristics of proposed CDF have been calculated using the finite differe...

Atomic current across an optical lattice.

We devise a microscopic model for the emergence of a collision-induced, fermionic atomic current across a tilted optical lattice. Tuning the--experimentally controllable--parameters of the microscopic dynamics allows us to switch from Ohmic to negative differential conductance.

Optical Cavity for the Strontium Lattice Atomic Clock

The Sr lattice atomic clock in Jun Ye’s group has been experiencing frequency shifts due to the interaction between the Sr atoms in the optical trap. One possible solution is to change the optical trap in the system such that the Sr atom density, and therefore the interaction between the atoms, is reduced. For this project a test system is necessary to test the vacuum chamber viewports, which i...

Controlling optical bistability in a three-level atomic system

We have experimentally studied the optical bistable behavior in an optical ring cavity filled with a collection of three-level L-type rubidium atoms, interacting with two collinearly propagating laser beams. The bistability so observed is very sensitive to the induced atomic coherence in this electromagnetically induced transparency system or consequently to the altered nonlinearity in the syst...

Optical lattice polarization effects on hyperpolarizability of atomic clock transitions.

The light-induced frequency shift due to hyperpolarizability (i.e., terms of second-order in intensity) is studied for a forbidden optical transition, J = 0 --> J = 0. A simple universal dependence on the field ellipticity is obtained. This result allows minimization of the second-order light shift with respect to the field polarization for optical lattices operating at a magic wavelength (at w...
