Occupational Injury Related Deaths among Construction Workers in Uttarakhand- A Retrospective, Descriptive Study

Construction industry in India is vast and complex involving modern technology as well the workforce. Annually construction alone contributes 24.2 % (on an average 38 people per day) fatalities out of estimated 48000 fatal occupational accidents occurred India. As government megaprojects are progress, incidence injuries also rose among workers Uttarakhand. This study aims to present a profile victims workers, contributory factors consequences at sites. Cases accident victims' data between October 2018 September 2020 brought for autopsy were studied. All male which 16 (88.8%) 21 40 years age. Majority was migrant from other states. Among total victims, 12 (66.6%) engaged highway work 6 (33.4%) building work. Landslide fall height common causative accident. Most died due multiple sustained on body.
