چکیده

Measuring the electric field generated in several deep brain structures during Transcranial electrical stimulation humans in-vivo. In addition, we investigated effects of TES intensities and montages on intracerebral EF. (TES) has shown for last decades promises as a treatment neurological psychiatric disorders. Its efficiency is related to amount (EF) magnitude delivered target. Very few studies (n=3) estimated in-vivo fields human. They relied mainly electrocorticographic recordings that require craniotomy did not precisely focus targeting cortical which can still lead some discussion about possibility reach structures. We applied alternating current stimulations simultaneously with (SEEG) 7 drug-resistant epileptic patients. Two low were used 6 patients (0.5 1mA) 15 different 1 patient. calculated by subtracting voltage measured contiguous contacts. found EF up 0.29, 0.38 0.54 V/m respectively amygdala, hippocampus, cingulate gyrus. Among 91 montage combinations, global difference was significant 65% cases. also confirmed experimentally proportional intensity. conclusion, at induces stochastic effects, achievable using intensities. highly correlated intensity depends montages.

Measurements and models of electric fields in the in vivo human brain during transcranial electric stimulation

Transcranial electric stimulation aims to stimulate the brain by applying weak electrical currents at the scalp. However, the magnitude and spatial distribution of electric fields in the human brain are unknown. We measured electric potentials intracranially in ten epilepsy patients and estimated electric fields across the entire brain by leveraging calibrated current-flow models. When stimulat...

Methodological Dimensions of Transcranial Brain Stimulation with the Electrical Current in Human

Transcranial current stimulation (TCS) is a neuromodulation method in which the patient is exposed to a mild electric current (direct or alternating) at 1-2 mA, resulting in an increase or a decrease in the brain excitability. This modi.cation in neural activities can be used as a method for functional human brain mapping with causal inferences. This method might also facilitate the treatments ...

Comparison of Maximum Induced Current and Electric Field from Transcranial Direct Current and Magnetic Stimulations of a Human Head Model

As important non-invasive techniques in brain stimulation, transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) and transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) have been studied and compared in this paper by employing impedance method and a 3D human head model. The quantitative analysis of distributions of current density and electric field by tDCS and TMS have been presented. Results are compared and po...

In vivo assessment of human brain oscillations during application of transcranial electric currents

Brain oscillations reflect pattern formation of cell assemblies' activity, which is often disturbed in neurological and psychiatric diseases like depression, schizophrenia and stroke. In the neurobiological analysis and treatment of these conditions, transcranial electric currents applied to the brain proved beneficial. However, the direct effects of these currents on brain oscillations have re...
