چکیده

Knowledge regarding genome size allows us to infer relationships between taxa, address questions related systematics and contribute biodiversity studies. However, currently, less than 3% of the described Pteridophyta species have estimates reported in databases, only around one third these are tropical species, although tropics home 86% fern diversity. The region Timor-Leste, included 25 hotspots biodiversity, is considered richest areas world terms pteridophyte species. Nonetheless, biodiversity-driven research focused on this territory’s scarce. This study presents novel 2C-values for 15 ferns collected using flow cytometry. Furthermore, lycophyte Palhinhaea cernua (L.) Vasc. & Franco, was also studied its estimated compared a previous report. Estimates ranged from 10.45 pg Selliguea feei Bory 29.7 Microsorum punctatum Copel, medium-size genomes. data with reports closely These first two families seven genera ferns, increasing number pteridophytes C-values 292 307.

Eviota santanai is described based on four specimens from Timor-Leste, taken in 5-8 m depth. In general coloration pattern, the species is most similar to E. latifasciata, but differs in the cephalic sensory-pore system pattern, the absence of an occipital spot, and live color including pinkish-mauve bars. Eviota santanai has a dorsal/anal fin-ray formula of 8/8, 5th pelvic-fin ray absent, some...

Opportunities in oral health policy for Timor-Leste.

Timor-Leste faces an urgent set of challenges in oral health. The impact of oral diseases in terms of reduced quality of life and cost of treatment is considerable. This paper reviews progress on policy recommendations since the National Oral Health Survey in 2002, the first such national survey. Few proposals have been implemented to date, owing to (i) lack of local support for the recommendat...

Influences and Echoes of Indonesia in Timor-Leste

Since 1999, when a United Nations (UN) transitional administration was established in the wake of the East Timorese vote for independence from Indonesia, the case of Timor-Leste has been a relative mainstay in research and policy debates on post-conflict reconstruction (Call and Wyeth 2008; Hood 2007; Svoboda and Davey 2013). TimorLeste is often characterised by scholars as a ‘postconflict’ cou...
