Nitrogen Metabolism in Non-Nodulated and Nodulated Soybean Plants Related to Ureide Synthesis

Soybean plants can fix atmospheric N2 in the root nodule, a symbiotic organ with rhizobia. The primary forms of N transported from fixation are ureides, allantoate, and allantoin, supplemented asparagine. nitrate absorbed roots is to shoots NO3− asparagine little portion ureides. concentrations N-metabolites were analyzed by capillary electrophoresis after supplying various urea, precursors allopurinol, an inhibitor xanthine dehydrogenase, investigate ureide synthesis pathway roots. When non-nodulated soybean treated 0–5 mM glutamine xylem sap increased remarkably. In addition, allantoate concentration urea becoming higher. Allopurinol inhibited accumulation but did not affect roots, stems, leaves, sap, supporting that synthesized purine degradation same as nodules. supplied nodulated plants, increased, suggesting assimilated amides
