Boronic acids in molecular self-assembly.
The reversibility of boronic acid and diol interaction makes it an ideal candidate for the design of self-assembled molecular structures. Reversibility is required to ensure that the thermodynamically most stable structure is formed. Reversibility also ensures that any errors produced during the assembly process are not permanent.
متن کاملElectrophilic Trifluoromethylselenolation of Boronic Acids.
Trifluoromethylselenylated compounds are emergent compounds with interesting physicochemical properties that still suffer from a lack of efficient synthetic methods. We recently developed an efficient one-pot strategy to generate in situ CF₃SeCl and use it in various reactions. Herein, we continue our study of the reactivity scope of this preformed reagent. Cross-coupling reactions with aromati...
متن کاملSugar complexation to silicone boronic acids.
A new class of surface-active compounds based on the combination of silicones and boronic acids is described. The properties of the compounds can be tuned by manipulation of both the hydrophobic (silicone size and 3D structure) and hydrophilic components (by binding different saccharides to the boronic acid). Stabilization of the four-coordinate boron structure is provided by Tris buffer that a...
متن کاملMolecular tectonics. Use of the hydrogen bonding of boronic acids to direct supramolecular construction.
Tetraboronic acids 1 and 2 have four -B(OH)(2) groups oriented tetrahedrally by cores derived from tetraphenylmethane and tetraphenylsilane. Crystallization produces isostructural diamondoid networks held together by hydrogen bonding of the -B(OH)(2) groups, in accord with the tendency of simple arylboronic acids to form cyclic hydrogen-bonded dimers in the solid state. Five-fold interpenetrati...
متن کاملDesign, synthesis, crystal structures, and antimicrobial activity of sulfonamide boronic acids as β-lactamase inhibitors.
We investigated a series of sulfonamide boronic acids that resulted from the merging of two unrelated AmpC β-lactamase inhibitor series. The new boronic acids differed in the replacement of the canonical carboxamide, found in all penicillin and cephalosporin antibiotics, with a sulfonamide. Surprisingly, these sulfonamides had a highly distinct structure-activity relationship from the previousl...
