چکیده
The flocculation that takes place in the central feedwell of thickener plays a crucial role coal-slurry thickening process, which is not only complex but also largely influenced by flow characteristics. A coupled computational fluid dynamics–population balance model (CFD–PBM) was used to flocculation-thickening behaviour an industrial-scale gravity thickener. initialisation parameters inlet were obtained through self-designed image-recognition experiments, and then effects different types conical deflectors on floc distribution simulated analysed using them. results showed that, under condition angle deflector’s sides vertical plane known, reasonable increase height bottom surface could reduce annular spanwise vortices at underflow feedwell, thereby avoiding erosion vortex deposition layer. However, excessive part deflector affect effect solid particles. For same size as simulation, best achieved α = 24° deflector. Turbulence regulation promotes aggregation fine particles providing new method for intensification flocculation-concentration process.
