Meiosis in Coprinus lagopus: a comparative study with light and electron microscopy.
Meiosis within fruiting bodies of Coprinus lagopus Fr. is closely synchronized. This conveniently facilitates joint lightand electron-microscope observations. Before nuclear fusion the chromatin appears diffuse in the light microscope; after nuclear fusion individual chromosomes can be recognized. In the electron micrographs the chromatin of pre-fusion and early fusion nuclei cannot be recogniz...
متن کاملIs Chromosome 15q13.3 Duplication Involving CHRNA7 Associated With Oral Clefts?
Copy number variants have been associated with intellectual disability, multiple congenital anomalies and craniofacial disorders. It has been reported that microduplication of 15q13.3 is associated with autism, cognitive impairment, seizures, and attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder. Here, the author identified microduplications in the 15q13.3 region in 4 cases from 3 Chinese families using...
متن کاملDark dependence of meiosis at elevated temperatures in the basidiomycete Coprinus lagopus.
Under continuous-light regimen Coprinus lagopus can enter and complete meiosis at 25 C, but is unable to do so at 35 C. The temperature-sensitive and the dark-dependent period is 10 hr before karyogamy. It is conjectured that the basidia are programmed for the initiation of meiosis during that 10-hr period.
متن کاملA recurrent missense mutation in GJA3 associated with autosomal dominant cataract linked to chromosome 13q
PURPOSE To map and identify the genetic defect underlying autosomal dominant cataract segregating in a 5-generation Caucasian American family. METHODS Genomic DNA was prepared from blood leukocytes, genotyping was performed using microsatellite markers, and logarithm of the odds (LOD) scores were calculated using the LINKAGE programs. Mutation profiling was performed using direct exon cycle-s...
متن کاملA Rare Case of Duplication of Chromosome 2 (q31.3q36.3) in a 4.5-year-old Boy and Review of the Literature
De novo duplication of 2q is very rare. Most cases of 2q duplications result from familial translocations, and are associated with simultaneous monosomy of another chromosome segment. To our knowledge and search in English literature there are less than 20 reported cases of isolated 2q duplication. Hereby we introduce a 4.5-year-old Iranian boy of a non-consanguineous marriage who was referred ...
