Medical Treatment of Adenotonsillar Hypertrophy- Study of 50 cases

Objective: To examine the efficacy of combined use intranasal steroids, antibiotics and monteleukast for improving adenotonsillar hypertrophy.
 Materials Methods: This prospective study was done at Bangladesh ENT Hospital, Dhaka from January 2020 to June 2021. 50 children were included with primary symptoms mouth breathing, snoring sleep disturbances. X-ray soft tissue nasopharynx lateral view before after treatment comparison. All prescribed fluticasone, phenoxymethyl penicillin 3 months followed up completion treatment.
 Results: The age ranged 2-12 years mean 5.4 years. There 30 female 20 male ratio 3:2. patients (60%) got complete relief symptoms, 12patients (24%) moderate improvement 8(16%) no benefit medical referred surgery.
 Conclusion: Intranasal steroid along oral are effective reducing size hypertrophy, relieving need J Otorhinolaryngol 2022; 28(1): 16-21
