چکیده
The role of endoscopic evaluation in ulcerative colitis (UC) is well recognized, but a universally accepted gold standard for activity still lacking, and many scores have been proposed to this purpose. Among these, the Mayo Endoscopic Score (MES) Ulcerative Colitis Index (UCEIS) are currently most used trials clinical practice. aim study evaluate feasibility performance MES UCEIS among expert endoscopists with no specific expertise inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD), single hospital center. Two minutes video recordings, from colonoscopy 12 UC patients, were observed scored, according UCEIS, by seven gastroenterologists experience digestive endoscopy particular IBD. Knowledge utilization two investigated. Inter-observer agreement an IBD-expert gastroenterologist same center (central reader), correlation between scores, was calculated. endoscopists, much more known than UCEIS. Both displayed similar good performance. Agreement central reader moderate interobserver good, both Correlation very endoscopists. This confirmed potential usefulness assessment patients real-life setting.

Endoscopic Approach in Ulcerative Colitis
The term inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is frequently used in the medical literature to define a set of diseases involving the digestive tract, particularly the small and the large intestine. The major IBDs are Crohn’s Disease (CD) and ulcerative colitis (UC). Ulcerative colitis is a chronic inflammatory disease characterized by diffuse mucosal inflammation limited to the colon. UC affects 50...

AIM To investigate of pediatric ulcerative colitis activity index (PUCAI) in ulcerative colitis correlate with mucosal inflammation and endoscopic assessment of disease activity (Mayo endoscopic score). METHODS We reviewed charts from ulcerative colitis patients who had undergone both colonoscopy over 3 years. Clinical assessment of disease severity within 35 d (either before or after) the co...
متن کاملUlcerative Colitis Endoscopic Index of Severity (UCEIS) versus Mayo Endoscopic Score (MES) in guiding the need for colectomy in patients with acute severe colitis
Background The Ulcerative Colitis Endoscopic Index of Severity (UCEIS) and the Mayo Endoscopic Score (MES) were developed as an objective method of the endoscopic severity in ulcerative colitis (UC); however, it was still unclear whether UCEIS vs MES could guide the need for colectomy in acute severe colitis (ASC). Methods Consecutive ASC patients between January 2012 and May 2016 were retros...
متن کاملCapsule-endoscopic findings of ulcerative colitis patients.
BACKGROUND/AIMS Ulcerative colitis (UC) is a chronic inflammatory bowel disease characterized by diffuse mucosal inflammation, traditionally regarded as being limited to the colorectum. Although several gastroduodenal lesions have also been reported recently in cases of UC, in general, small-bowel lesions in UC are believed to be extremely rare. The aim of this study was to examine the small bo...
متن کاملFecal calprotectin predicts complete mucosal healing and better correlates with the ulcerative colitis endoscopic index of severity than with the Mayo endoscopic subscore in patients with ulcerative colitis
BACKGROUND We aimed to evaluate the role of fecal calprotectin (FC) as a noninvasive marker for the disease activity of ulcerative colitis (UC) in a Korean cohort. METHODS A total of 181 fecal samples were collected from 181 consecutive UC patients between April 2015 and September 2016. FC levels were measured using the Quantum Blue® Calprotectin rapid test. The laboratory test results, parti...
