Marble Waste Valorization through Alkali Activation

In the present study, valorization potential of marble waste in presence metakaolin via alkali activation was explored. The activating solution used consisted NaOH and sodium silicate solutions. effects to ratio, particle size raw materials, curing temperature, Na2O/SiO2 H2O/Na2O molar ratios on main properties morphology produced alkali-activated materials (AAMs) evaluated. durability structural integrity AAMs after firing at temperatures between 200 600 °C, immersion deionized water 1 mol/L NaCl for different time periods subjection freeze–thaw cycles were also investigated. Characterization techniques including Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, mercury intrusion porosimetry scanning electron microscopy order study structure AAMs. ?he highest compressive strength (~36 MPa) achieved by prepared with mass ratio 0.3 40 °C. results indicated that utilization enables production good physical (porosity, density absorption) mechanical properties, thus contributing this type reduction environmental footprint industry.
