Localizing the Sustainable Development Goals: a managerial perspective

Purpose This article investigates how Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) can be integrated into the strategic planning and management processes of local governments (LGs). It draws from classic control framework developed in studies elaborates some propositions for adapting, implementing monitoring SDGs at city level. Design/methodology/approach As a first step assessment ways principles sustainable development LG management, this research scrutinizes incorporation sustainability goals plans all medium-to-large capital cities provinces Italy, context which there has been National Strategy (NSSD) since 2016.
