Lipid-based nanocarriers have been extensively investigated for drug delivery due to their advantages including biodegradability, biocompatibility, nontoxicity, and nonimmunogenicity. However, the shortcomings of traditional lipid-based such as insufficient targeting, capture by reticuloendothelial system, fast elimination limit efficiency therapeutic efficacy. Therefore, a series multifunctional developed enhance accumulation drugs in lesion site, aiming improved diagnosis treatment various diseases. In this review, we summarized advances applications from novel functional lipid preparations, liposomes, stimuli-responsive nanocarriers, ionizable nanoparticles, hybrid well biomembrane-camouflaged further discussed challenges prospects system. This exploration may give complete idea viewing promising choice fuel advancement pharmaceutical products materials innovation nanotechnology.
