چکیده
Background: The most common nutritional deficiency in world is iron deficiency. the cause of anemia due to and seen commonly children under five years age. Objective: To determine frequency non-anemic Methods: A descriptive cross-sectional survey was conducted pediatrics department –removed for blind review---from August 2020 February 2021. total 145 children, ages 2-59 months were enrolled through non-probability consecutive sampling this study. complete blood count C-reactive protein sent laboratory tests rule out infection/inflammation. In with normal hematocrit (30-40%) CRP (≤ 6), serum ferritin levels sent. Those whom ≤12ng/ml regarded as cases latent SPSS version 23 used data entry analysis. Age gender effect modifiers controlled by stratification. chi square test post value p ≤ 0.05 considered significant. Results: mean age patients 3.20±5.41 years. Among all 69 (47.6%) boys remaining 76 (52.4%) girls. Out 62 (42.8%) deficient whereas 83 (57.2%) non-iron deficient. male female ratio 1:1.3. prevalence among infants 46%, followed toddlers 42% preschoolers 41%. level 22.96±2.21 ng/ml. 33.84±2.68. statistical analysis showed that there an insignificant association between groups (p ≥ 0.5). Conclusion: study concluded very common, especially infants. Screening seems be a important task better child care. Key words: Anemia, Iron-Deficiency; Child, Preschool; Malnutrition.

Iron Deficiency Among Non-Anemic Under-Five Children in Enugu, South-East, Nigeria
BACKGROUND Iron deficiency has been described as the world most common nutritional deficiency and the commonest cause of nutritional anemia in infancy and childhood. The deleterious behavioral and cognitive deficit associated with iron-deficiency anemia could be irreversible. Therefore, the latter should be prevented by early detection of iron deficiency in the non-anemic groups. AIM To deter...
متن کاملLow Hb Density (LHD %) in the Detection of Latent Iron Deficiency in Non-Anemic Premenopausal Women
Hemoglobin (Hb) within the reference interval does not exclude iron deficiency, because there is a long period of reduced iron stores (latent iron deficiency) before anemia is present. Low Hb density (LHD %) reported by Beckman-Coulter analyzers, derived from the mean cell hemoglobin concentration, is related to iron availability and hemoglobin content. We study the potential utility of LHD% in...

OBJECTIVES To determine the prevalence of vitamin A deficiency (VAD) and nutritional anemia (NA) in children under five in Peru. MATERIALS AND METHODS Cross-sectional study with a stratified and multi-staged probabilistic sample conducted between November 2007 and April 2010.2,736 children were included for NA and 1,465 children for VAD. NA was defined as Hb<11 g/dL.VAD was identified by seru...
متن کاملDiagnosis of Iron Deficiency and Iron Deficiency Anemia with Reticulocyte Hemoglobin Content among Children Aged 6-18 Years
Background: Iron deficiency (ID) is the most common micronutrient deficiency in the world. If left untreated, ID will lead to iron deficiency anemia (IDA) and other irreversible consequences. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommended reticulocyte hemoglobin content (Ret-He) as an alternative laboratory examination to screen and detect ID. We aimed to compare Ret-He with other laboratory pa...
