چکیده

This study evaluates the stiffness and damping characteristics of low-profile magnetorheological (MR) fluid mounts (MRFM) to provide a better understanding vibration improvements offered by such mounts, as compared with conventional elastomeric mounts. It also aims at assessing how much mount’s performance is due MR elastomer steel insert that used in MRFM. The includes design, analysis, fabrication, testing unique class MRFM suitable for isolation sensitive machinery sensors. compressed (squeezed) response dynamic force applied mount. test results are (rubber) same configuration MRFM, highlight changes frequencies ranging from 1 35 Hz. With no current supplied, has slightly higher nearly rubber slight increase attributed fluid’s compressive stiffness, which than rubber. When supplied significantly lower taper off level mount frequencies. Both directly proportional current. At maximum 2 A, 200% 700% tapering quite interesting intriguing. indicates delivers high when needed, while them not desirable.

Preliminary Study of Modelling Dynamic Properties of Magnetorheological Fluid Damper

u(t) c 1 2 k 3 m f c Abstract A preliminary study was conducted to investigate numerical models that can be used to simulate the dynamic behaviour of a damper based on magnetorheological (MR) materials. Several articles presenting the results of experimental testing and mathematical modelling have been published recently. The goal for this study was to implement a selected model into the finite...

Magnetorheological Properties of Aqueous Ferrofluids

The nanosized magnetite particles were synthesized by means of a coprecipitation method and used to prepare the aqueous ferrofluids with various volume fractions. The magnetorheological properties of the aqueous ferrofluids have been investigated as a function of magnetic field. Under steady-state shear, the apparent viscosity for all of the ferrofluids exhibited a shear thinning behavior. But ...

A new semi-active magnetorheological engine mounts for improving vehicle ride comfort using sliding mode controller

Abstract Inthispaper,anewsemi-activemagnetorheological(MR)enginemountinhalfcarmodelisproposed for improving ride comfort. Such a model uses a dynamic sliding mode controller. It operates as a controller system for controlling the magnetic field strength of the engine mount coil. Controlling the magnetic field strength leads to change the magnetorheological liquid properties and thereby the gene...

‘‘Smart’’ Base Isolation Strategies Employing Magnetorheological Dampers

One of the most successful means of protecting structures against severe seismic events is base isolation. However, optimal design of base isolation systems depends on the magnitude of the design level earthquake that is considered. The features of an isolation system designed for an El Centro-type earthquake typically will not be optimal for a Northridge-type earthquake and vice versa. To be e...

Theoretical Studies on Magnetorheological Fluid Brake

A Magneto-Rheological (MR) fluid brake is a device to transmit torque by the shear force of an MR fluid. An MR rotary brake has the property that its braking torque changes quickly in response to an external magnetic field strength. In this paper, the design method of the cylindrical MR fluid brake is investigated theoretically. The mechanical part is modeled using Bingham’s equation, an approa...
