متن کاملPost-infectious encephalomyelitis: some aetiological mechanisms.
The possibility that acute disseminated encephalomyelitis (ADEM) and epidemic myalgic encephalomyelitis ('epidemic neuromyasthenia') may share a common pathogenesis is examined and many factors common to the two diseases are described. It is suggested that further study of ADEM may help our understanding of epidemic myalgic encephalomyelitis.
متن کاملPara-infectious and post-vaccinal encephalomyelitis.
The incidence of encephalomyelitis in association with acute specific fevers and prophylactic inoculations is discussed. Available statistics are inaccurate, but these conditions are of considerable importance -it is likely that there are about 400 cases of measles encephalitis in England and Wales in an epidemic year. The pathology of these neurological complications is discussed and emphasis ...
متن کاملExperimental Studies of the Virus of Infectious Avian Encephalomyelitis
The results of investigations thus far carried out on experimental avian encephalomyelitis indicate that the virus of this newly described disease conforms to the group of definitely established viruses. It was essential to determine its taxonomy since the only prior record of its study (1) defines the infective agent as a virus because the usual cultural attempts failed to reveal a visible mic...
متن کاملPost-infectious encephalomyelitis associated with Mycoplasma pneumoniae and Legionella pneumophila infection.
A case of severe acute encephalomyelitis associated with a serological diagnosis of both Mycoplasma pneumoniae and Legionella pneumophila infection is reported. Serological co-positivity between these two pathogens has been reported previously, and has, in general, been attributed to cross-reactivity. This is the first documented case of co-infection using more sensitive and specific serologica...
