<i>In?situ</i> XAS Study of Catalytic N <sub>2</sub> O Decomposition Over CuO/CeO <sub>2</sub> Catalysts

We performed in-situ XAS study of N2O decomposition over CuO/CeO2 catalysts. The Cu K-edge and Ce L3-edge XANES EXAFS analyses revealed the dynamic crucial role Cu2+/Cu+ Ce4+/Ce3+ ionic pairs during catalytic reaction. observed initial formation reduced Cu+ Ce3+ species activation in helium atmosphere at 400 °C, while concentration these decreased significantly steady-state nitrous oxide degradation reaction (2500 ppm He °C). In-situ analysis further a copper?ceria interface this changes average number Cu?Ce scatters under conditions, indicating an enlarging between both copper ceria phases, where electron oxygen transfer occurs.
