We introduce a concept of porosity for measures and study relations between dimensions and porosities for two classes of measure...
متن کاملJets Produced in 1 r - , 1 r + , and Proton Interactions at 200 GeV on Hydrogen and Aluminum Targets
This paper presents results from an experiment on the production of jets (groups of particles) with highP .L produced in 200-GeV/c interactions. Results are presented on the comparison of jet cross sections on aluminum and hydrogen targets. The jet fragmentation distributions are also examined. Both the cross section and the jet structure are found to depend strongly on the beam and target types.
متن کاملComputational studies on hydrogen storage in aluminum nitride nanowires/tubes.
One-dimensional AlN nanowires/tubes were exploited as hydrogen storage media. The adsorption of atomic and molecular hydrogen on AlN nanowires was investigated by using density functional theory computations. Hydrogen atoms prefer to adsorb on top of neighboring threefold-coordinated N and Al atoms in pairs. A hydrogen molecule, however, prefers to adsorb on top of threefold-coordinated Al atom...
متن کامل1. Aluminum anodization
The history of electrochemical oxidation of aluminum dates back to the beginning of the last century. Anodic treatment of aluminum were intensively investigated to obtain protective and decorative films on its surface [1]. More recently, applications of porous alumina with a huge surface area and a relatively narrow pore size distribution have been exploited [2]. For example, several attempts t...
متن کاملHydrogen embrittlement of aluminum: the crucial role of vacancies.
We report first-principles calculations which demonstrate that vacancies can combine with hydrogen impurities in bulk aluminum and play a crucial role in the embrittlement of this prototypical ductile solid. Our studies of hydrogen-induced vacancy superabundant formation and vacancy clusterization in aluminum lead to the conclusion that a large number of H atoms (up to 12) can be trapped at a s...
