چکیده
Background Proper nasal tip projection and rotation are essential for an aesthetically pleasing nose. However, East Asians usually have thicker skin underdeveloped cartilage compared to Caucasians. Thus, techniques such as the septal extension graft, columellar strut L-shaped alloplastic implants been introduced additional support projection. no consensus exists regarding optimal method. Methods A hybrid made of osteochondral graft recombined with crest maxilla conchal was devised. In a cadaveric study, changes due external bending force costal in same dimension were measured. comparative we divided 20 subjects into two groups according material used graft: (experimental group) double-layered (control group). Preoperative, 1-month postoperative, 1-year postoperative anthropometric measurements between groups. Results showed superior mechanical strength. average change labial angle significantly smaller experimental group (–0.7°±1.16° vs. 2.2°±1.32°, P=0.015). L-Shaped Columellar Strut in East Asian Nasal Tip Plasty
BACKGROUND Nasal tip support is an essential consideration for rhinoplasty in East Asians. There are many techniques to improve tip projection, and among them, the columellar strut is the most popular technique. However, the conventional design is less supportive for rotating the tip. The amount of harvestable septal cartilage is relatively small in East Asians. For an optimal outcome, we propo...
متن کاملQuantifying Optimal Columellar Strut Dimensions for Nasal Tip Stabilization After Rhinoplasty via Finite Element Analysis.
IMPORTANCE The contribution of columellar strut grafts (CSGs) to nasal tip support has not been determined via structural mechanics. Optimal graft dimensions have yet to be objectively determined. OBJECTIVES To use a finite element model (FEM) of the human nose to (1) determine the effect of the CSG on nasal tip support and (2) identify how suture placement contributes to tip support. DESIG...
متن کاملThe hump columellar strut: a reliable technique for correction of nasal tip underprojection.
Nasal tip under projection is often found in rhinoplasty cases both for congenital or post-traumatic deformity. Nasal trauma may result in alteration of the external and internal nasal structures with following aesthetic impairment and difficulties in breathing. Post-traumatic surgery is frequent, but restoration of pre-traumatic form and function remains a challenge. The present paper describe...
متن کاملThe conchal cartilage graft in nasal reconstruction.
Graft selection remains a problem in nasal reconstruction, where the use of autologous cartilage still provides the best resistance to infection and a low degree of resorption. As the nasal septum is often absent or insufficient in such patients, the auricular concha offers a valid alternative. A group of 53 patients suffering from developmental iatrogenic and post-traumatic nasal pathologies w...
متن کاملTip Graft and Columellar Strut Using Dorsal Osseocartilaginous Hump
Background: Although, different grafts are used for nasal tip plasty in cases with under projected or ill defined tip, the selection of a graft material, which provides sufficient amount of tissue with least donor site morbidity and low recipient site complication is challenging. The objectives of the present study were to examine the usefulness of cartilaginous dorsum as a proper material for ...
