How to measure urban water security? An introduction to the Water Security Assessment Tool (WATSAT)

The objective of the project was to develop a web-based digital tool called Water Security Assessment Tool (WATSAT) help city authorities and decision-makers make an evaluation water security situation in city. It uses indicator-based methodology that measures five distinct dimensions (broad elements) security: “Water supply sanitation”, productivity”, “Water-related disasters”, environment”, governance”, which together culminate into Index (WSI). is developed based on assessment framework by Babel, Dang, Sharma, Shinde (2015). WATSAT results quantitative city, wherein WSI provides overall picture while various helps identify areas concern. aids having holistic understanding interconnections factors affecting it assists them informed decision-making arrive at system-based interventions tackle threats cities.
