چکیده

Objective and Impact Statement . There is a need to develop rodent coils capable of targeted brain stimulation for treating neuropsychiatric disorders understanding mechanisms. We describe novel coil design improve the focality stimulations in small brains. Introduction Transcranial magnetic (TMS) becoming increasingly important Preclinical studies permit invasive manipulations are essential mechanistic TMS effects explorations therapeutic outcomes disease models. However, existing tools lack stimulations. Notably, there has been limited fundamental research on developing focal at deep regions animals like rodents. Methods In this study, ferromagnetic cores added angle-tuned enhance performance regarding penetration depth focality. Numerical simulations experimental electric field measurements were conducted optimize design. Results The proposed system demonstrated significantly smaller spot size enhanced decay rate comparison coils. Adding core reduces energy requirements up 60% stimulation. simulated results validated with demonstration suprathreshold limb excitation through motor cortex activation. Conclusion newly developed suitable due their improved rate.

In Vivo Targeted Magnetic Resonance Imaging of Endogenous Neural Stem Cells in the Adult Rodent Brain

Neural stem cells in the adult mammalian brain have a significant level of neurogenesis plasticity. In vivo monitoring of adult endogenous NSCs would be of great benefit to the understanding of the neurogenesis plasticity under normal and pathological conditions. Here we show the feasibility of in vivo targeted MR imaging of endogenous NSCs in adult mouse brain by intraventricular delivery of m...

Oxygenation-sensitive contrast in magnetic resonance image of rodent brain at high magnetic fields.

At high magnetic fields (7 and 8.4 T), water proton magnetic resonance images of brains of live mice and rats under pentobarbital anesthetization have been measured by a gradient echo pulse sequence with a spatial resolution of 65 x 65-microns pixel size and 700-microns slice thickness. The contrast in these images depicts anatomical details of the brain by numerous dark lines of various sizes....

Iron-gold (Fe2O3@Au) core-shell nano-theranostic for magnetically targeted photothermal therapy under magnetic resonance imaging guidance

Introduction: Photothermal therapy (PTT) is a nanotechnology-assisted cancer hyperthermia approach in which the interaction between laser light and plasmonic nanoparticles generates a localized heating for thermoablation of the tumor. Recent efforts in the area of PTT follow two important aims: (i) exploitation of targeting strategies for preferential accumulation of plasmonic ...

High performance multi-core iron oxide nanoparticles for magnetic hyperthermia: microwave synthesis, and the role of core-to-core interactions.

The adoption of magnetic hyperthermia as either a stand-alone or adjunct therapy for cancer is still far from being optimised due to the variable performance found in many iron oxide nanoparticle systems, including commercially available formulations. Herein, we present a reproducible and potentially scalable microwave-based method to make stable citric acid coated multi-core iron oxide nanopar...

Design of the ITER high-frequency magnetic diagnostic coils

This paper is an overview of work carried out on the design of the ITER high-frequency magnetic diagnostic coil (HF sensor). In the first part, the ITER requirements for the HF sensor are presented. In the second part, the ITER reference design of the HF sensor has been assessed and showed some potential weaknesses, which led us to the conclusion that alternative designs could usefully be exami...
