Gauge kinetic mixing and dark topological defects

چکیده

A bstract We discuss how the topological defects in dark sector affect Standard Model when photon has a kinetic mixing with QED photon. In particular, we consider appearing successive gauge symmetry breaking, SU(2) → U(1) ℤ 2 , where remaining is center of SU(2). this model, monopole trapped into cosmic strings and forms so-called bead solution. As will discuss, string induces magnetic flux inside through mixing. The monopole, on other hand, does not induce symmetric phase, even presence Finally, show that solution spherically induced looks like viewed from distance, although satisfies Bianchi identity everywhere, which call pseudo monopole.

Kinetic Mixing and the Supersymmetric Gauge Hierarchy

The most general Lagrangian for a model with two U(1) gauge symmetries contains a renormalizable operator which mixes their gauge kinetic terms. Such kinetic mixing can be generated at arbitrarily high scales but will not be suppressed by large masses. In models whose supersymmetry (SUSY)breaking hidden sectors contain U(1) gauge factors, we show that such terms will generically arise and commu...

Topological defects in lattice gauge theories

We present a non-perturbative formalism for measuring defect free energies (monopole mass or vortex tension) in three-dimensional SU(2)+adjoint Higgs models. Starting from twisted, translation invariant boundary conditions, we perform a change of variables that allows us to express the defect free energies in terms of ’t Hooft loops. We propose that the defect free energies can be used to disti...

Local Gauge Invariance and Formation of Topological Defects

In superconductors, and in other systems with a local U(1) gauge invariance, there are two mechanisms that form topological defects in phase transitions. In addition to the standard Kibble mechanism, thermal fluctuations of the magnetic field also lead to defect formation. This mechanism is specific to local gauge theories, predicts a qualitatively different spatial defect distribution and is t...

Cosmic Rays from Leptophilic Dark Matter Decay via Kinetic Mixing

If interpreted in terms of decaying dark matter, the steep rise in the positron fraction of cosmic rays above 10GeV, as observed by the PAMELA experiment, suggests an underlying production mechanism that favors leptonic channels. We consider a scenario where a portion of the dark matter is made of the gauginos of an unbroken hidden-sector U(1)X , which interact with the visible sector only thro...

Topological Defects in Gauge Theories of Open p-branes

We study phase transitions induced by topological defects in compact Abelian gauge theories of open p-branes in (d+1) space-time dimensions. Starting from a massive antisymmetric tensor theory for the open p-branes we show how the condensation of topological defects can lead to a decoupled phase with a massless tensor coupled to closed (p − 1)branes and a massive tensor coupled to open (p + 1)-...
