Frequency Response Analysis for Three-Phase Star and Delta Induction Motors: Pattern Recognition and Fault Analysis Using Statistical Indicators

This paper presents a new investigation to detect various faults within the three-phase star and delta induction motors (IMs) using frequency response analysis (FRA). In this regard, experimental measurements FRA are performed on three IMs of ratings 1 HP, 3 HP 5.5 in normal conditions, short-circuit fault (SC) open-circuit (OC) conditions. The SC OC applied artificially between turns (Turn-to-Turn), coils (Coil-to-Coil) phases (Phase-to-Phase). obtained show that result dissimilar signatures for faulty windings. Various statistical indicators used quantify deviations signatures. calculation is ranges: low, middle high ones, as winding parameters including resistive, inductive capacitive components dominate characteristics at different ranges. Consequently, it proposed boundaries facilitate identification quantification.
