tt∗-GEOMETRY IN QUANTUM COHOMOLOGY

We study possible real structures in the space of solutions to the quantum differential equation. We show that, under mild conditions, a real structure in orbifold quantum cohomology yields a pure and polarized tt-geometry near the large radius limit. We compute an example of P which is pure and polarized over the whole Kähler moduli space H(P,C).

tt∗-GEOMETRY ON THE BIG PHASE SPACE

The big phase space, the geometric setting for the study of quantum cohomology with gravitational descendents, is a complex manifold and consists of an infinite number of copies of the small phase space. The aim of this paper is to define a Hermitian geometry on the big phase space. Using the approach of Dijkgraaf and Witten [2], we lift various geometric structures of the small phase space to ...

Hamiltonian Theory of the FQHE

The hamiltonian theory of the fractional quantum Hall effect (FQHE) is derived and used to answer a large number of qualitative and quantitative questions. After some preliminaries, the complementary approach based on the trial wavefunctions of Laughlin and Jain is reviewed since it inspires the hamiltonian approach. A critical survey of vortices, the structure of Composite Fermions, and the di...

FQHE and Jain’s approach on the torus

By using the explicit knowledge of the lowest energy single particle wave functions in the presence of an arbitrary magnetic field, we extend to the case of a torus Jain’s idea of looking at the FQHE as a manifestation of an integer effect for composite fermions. We show that this can be realized thanks to a redefinition of the vacuum state that is explicitly collective in nature. We also discu...

Hamiltonian Theories of the FQHE

This paper reviews progress on the Fractional Quantum Hall Effect (FQHE) based on what we term hamiltonian theories, i.e., theories that proceed from the microscopic electronic hamiltonian to the final solution via a sequence of transformations and approximations, either in the hamiltonian or path integral approach, as compared to theories based on exact diagonalization or trial wavefunctions. ...
