Field and Sedimentological Studies of Nataco-Banda Sediments of Lokoja Formation, Southern Bida Basin, Nigeria: Implication for Depositional Environment

چکیده

The study area falls within the Lokoja Formation of Southern Bida Basin. objective this was to evaluate field characteristics and sedimentological parameters depositional environment Nataco-Banda Sediments Formation, Basin, Nigeria using appropriate techniques such as granulometric pebble morphometric analysis. Field studies revealed a repeated alternating sequence conglomeratic pebbly coarse-grained sandstone overbank fine sediment that is indicative braided fluvial source while presence crossbedding suggestive tidal influence. analysis shows setting where pebbles plot in river than beach area. Environmental discrimination formulae for Y1, Y2 Y3 indicated dominance Beach Shallow agitated marine both Y1 Y2, respectively, almost equal percentage values shallow settings are highly largely influenced by deposition.

simulation and experimental studies for prediction mineral scale formation in oil field during mixing of injection and formation water

abstract: mineral scaling in oil and gas production equipment is one of the most important problem that occurs while water injection and it has been recognized to be a major operational problem. the incompatibility between injected and formation waters may result in inorganic scale precipitation in the equipment and reservoir and then reduction of oil production rate and water injection rate. ...

Comparison of grain-clay fraction and particle morphogenesis as signatures of source and depositional environment (Cretaceous Lokoja formation, Niger Basin, Nigeria)

The Upper Cretaceous Lokoja Formation of southern Niger Basin in Nigeria is a dominantly sandy facies comprising of two distinctive members, the Lokoja and Patti Siltstone. The fluvial sandstone of the Lokoja Sandstone is petrologically defined as dominantly poorly sorted angular to sub-angular, fine to aly skewed, immature lithic arkose to sub-litharenite with a detrital clayey matrix of over ...

postnatal studies of bats (pipistrellus kuhlii and miniopterus schreibersii) & histomorphology and histochemistry studies of organs and diseases of (neurergus microspilotus and n. kaiseri)

1. to determine whether difference in birth body mass influenced growth performance in pipistrellus kuhlii we studied a total of 12 captive-born neonates. bats were assigned to two body mass groups: light birth body mass (lbw: 0.89 ± 0.05, n=8) and heavy birth body mass (hbw: 1.35 ± 0.08, n=4). heavier body mass at birth was associated with rapid postnatal growth (body mass and forearm length) ...

Microfacies analysis and depositional environment of the Fahliyan Formation (Lower Cretaceus), Abadan plain, West South of Iran (Arvand-field)

The Fahliyan Formation of Khami Group is hosting important hydrocarbon reserves in Iran and also is a main reservoir rock in the Abadan Plain oil fields which is Neocomian in age. In the studied wells its thickness is about 406 meters. In the Abadan Plain, the Fahliyan Formation transitionally overlies of the Garau Formation and its upper boundary changes into the Gadvan Formation. According to...

Depositional History of Miocene-Age Sediments from the Weddell Sea, Antarctica, Using Sedimentological and Geochemical Proxies

Understanding the stability of Antarctic Ice Sheets is a key to understanding past climates and the response of ice-sheets to warming. In this thesis, I examined the middle through upper Miocene marine sedimentological and geochemical record in the Weddell Sea. Sediments were recovered at Ocean Drilling Program (ODP) Site 694 located in 4653 m of water in the northern Weddell Sea Abyssal Plain,...
