چکیده

Abstract Polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) hydrogels have been extensively investigated for drug release, artificial cartilage, biosensing, and other applications owing to their good chemical stability, biocompatibility, high water absorption, ease of processing. However, the conventional hydrogel preparation method is complex energy-intensive, mechanical performance pure PVA poor, which severely limits its application in related fields. In this study, a was functionally modified using polybutylene succinate (PBS) nanofibers prepared situ fiber-forming technology fabricate PBS-enhanced composite hydrogel. The strength PBS/PVA fabricated study 3.88 MPa, 4.94 times that hydrogel; thus, effectively improved. used novel straightforward. Moreover, resulting materials are biodegradable non-toxic. Compared methods, has advantages conserving resources being environmentally friendly.

Three-dimensional printing fiber reinforced hydrogel composites.

An additive manufacturing process that combines digital modeling and 3D printing was used to prepare fiber reinforced hydrogels in a single-step process. The composite materials were fabricated by selectively pattering a combination of alginate/acrylamide gel precursor solution and an epoxy based UV-curable adhesive (Emax 904 Gel-SC) with an extrusion printer. UV irradiation was used to cure th...

Polyvinyl Alcohol Fiber Reinforced Engineered Cementitious Composites: Material Design and Performances

Polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) fiber is considered as one of the most suitable polymeric fibers to be used as the reinforcement of engineered cementitious composites (ECC), though the unique microstructure characteristics of PVA fiber add challenge to the material design. In this paper, the micromechanics based design procedure for a PVA-ECC suitable for structural applications is described, and pract...

Fiber-reinforced hydrogel scaffolds for heart valve tissue engineering.

Heart valve-related disorders are among the major causes of death worldwide. Although prosthetic valves are widely used to treat this pathology, current prosthetic grafts cannot grow with the patient while maintaining normal valve mechanical and hemodynamic properties. Tissue engineering may provide a possible solution to this issue through using biodegradable scaffolds and patients' own cells....

Anisotropic polyvinyl alcohol hydrogel for cardiovascular applications.

Polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) is a hydrophilic polymer with various characteristics desired for biomedical applications and can be transformed into a solid hydrogel by physical crosslinking, using a low-temperature thermal cycling process. As with most polymeric materials, the mechanical properties of the resultant PVA are isotropic, as oppose to most soft tissues, which are anisotropic. The objectiv...

Fiber-reinforced tough hydrogels

Using strong fibers to reinforce a hydrogel is highly desirable but difficult. Such a composite would combine the attributes of a solid that provides strength and a liquid that transports matter. Most hydrogels, however, are brittle, allowing the fibers to cut through the hydrogel when the composite is loaded. Here we circumvent this problem by using a recently developed tough hydrogel. We fabr...
