Experimental measurements of surgical microenvironments in two operating rooms with laminar airflow and mixing ventilation systems

چکیده

At present, laminar airflow (LAF) systems and mixing ventilation (MV) are two commonly used solutions for operating rooms (ORs) to ensure the required indoor air quality. However, recent studies have shown that there is little difference in prevalence of surgical site infection (SSI) LAF MV systems. The objective this study was compare performance an system with ORs at St. Olavs hospital, Norway. In study, all experimental measurements were conducted real This found velocity above incision approximately times higher OR than MV. use lamps different patterns may contribute microenvironment

Thermal comfort of the surgical staff in an operating theatre: a numerical study on laminar and mixing ventilation systems

The indoor air quality in an operating theatre affects both patient health and the well-being of the surgical team members. Health care facilities, and operating theatres in particular, require ventilation and air conditioning for thermal comfort and removal of contaminants. Although the patient undergoing surgery is given the highest priority, it is important to consider the comfort of surgica...

simulation and experimental studies for prediction mineral scale formation in oil field during mixing of injection and formation water

abstract: mineral scaling in oil and gas production equipment is one of the most important problem that occurs while water injection and it has been recognized to be a major operational problem. the incompatibility between injected and formation waters may result in inorganic scale precipitation in the equipment and reservoir and then reduction of oil production rate and water injection rate. ...

Operating room ventilation with laminar airflow shows no protective effect on the surgical site infection rate in orthopedic and abdominal surgery.

OBJECTIVE To evaluate whether operating room (OR) ventilation with (vertical) laminar airflow impacts on surgical site infection (SSI) rates. DESIGN Retrospective cohort-study based on routine surveillance data. PATIENTS AND METHODS Sixty-three surgical departments participating voluntarily in the German national nosocomial infections surveillance system "KISS" were included (a total of 99,...

Comparison of airflow and contaminant distributions in rooms with traditional displacement ventilation and under-floor air distribution systems

Traditional displacement ventilation (TDV) and under-floor air distribution (UFAD) systems have been used widely because they create better indoor air quality. Many previous studies have compared the TDV or UFAD systems with mixing ventilation systems. This study first compared experimentally the TDV with UFAD systems that use four different diffusers (perforated TDV diffusers, swirl diffusers,...

Compliance With Infection Control Guidelines in the Operating Rooms

Introduction: Compliance with the safety standards in the operating rooms, as one of the most complex work environments in the health care systems, is very important. One of the safety measures is the infection control standard.  Objective: This study aimed to investigate compliance with infection control standards in the operating rooms of teaching hospitals in Rasht City, Iran. Materials an...
