Experimental and numerical study of gas-powder flux in coaxial laser cladding nozzles of Precitec

Laser cladding technology is used for coating deposition, worn surfaces repairing, and direct fabrication. However, the technological complexity high cost prevents its wide industrial applications. In present work, gas-powder flux parameters are studding to optimize conditions choice of appropriate nozzle. Using commercial Precitec (Germany) nozzles, relations between nozzle geometry powder analysed. The numerical simulation gas compared with high-speed optical monitoring accompanied by post image treatment. Numerical experimental results have same tendencies regarding geometry, waist convergence angles. difference related particle-particle collisions, which neglected in simulation. modelling strongly depend on energy loses particle/nozzle wall collisions. It was found that “short” nozzles high-gap more suitable. For 3D fabrication, “medium” low-gap preferable.
