Evaluation of Implants, Clover, and Fescue Variety on Stocker Steers – Year 2

چکیده
Sixty-four growing steers were used in a split-plot experiment, where the whole plot was pasture, and implant level. Whole treatment 4 × 2 factorial with four levels of fescue (High Endophyte, Low Novel, or Endophyte Free) two legume (Legumes No Legumes). The included (No Implant, Synovex One Grass, Revalor-G, Ralgro). Data collected weights, hair coat scores, length, rectal temperature (every 28 days), ultrasound carcass characteristics when coming off grass. Steers on High had lowest average daily gain (ADG) final weight smallest loin muscle as compared to all other types. differentiation observed beginning at day 56 through end study. Overall, ADG not impacted by addition legume. that implanted Grass greater gain, weight, lower score non-implanted steers. For many measures, Ralgro Revalor-G resulted changes between those receiving Grass. high endophyte than Ralgro, being intermediate. Gains for free pastures also type gains steers, In this second year research, use low no implants increased gains.

Effects of Cultivar and Distillers Grains Supplementation on Grazing and Subsequent Finishing Performance of Stocker Steers Grazing Tall Fescue Pasture
Four hundred thirty-two yearling steers grazing tall fescue pastures were used to evaluate the effects of fescue cultivar and dried distillers grains (DDG) supplementation during the grazing phase on available forage, grazing gains, subsequent finishing gains, and carcass characteristics. Fescue cultivars evaluated were highendophyte ‘Kentucky 31’ and low-endophyte ‘Kentucky 31,’ ‘HM4,’ and ‘Ma...
متن کاملInfluence of stocking rate and steroidal implants on growth rate of steers grazing toxic tall fescue and subsequent physiological responses.
An 84-d grazing experiment was conducted in 2 growing seasons to evaluate interactions of stocking rate and steroidal implants with BW gain and symptoms of toxicosis in yearling steers grazing endemic endophyte-infected (E+) tall fescue (Festuca arundinacea Schreb.). A 4 x 2 factoral design was used to evaluate 4 stocking rates (3.0, 4.0, 5.0, and 6.0 steers/ ha) with or without steroidal impla...
متن کاملComparison of 3 tall fescue-based stocker systems.
A 2-yr production study was conducted to evaluate 3 systems of growing stocker calves under rotational stocking. One group of steers was stocked on pasture from early April to mid August (spring-stocked steers = SSS), and another group of steers was stocked from early July to late October (fall-stocked steers = FSS). Steers were stratified by BW (n = 72, BW = 229 +/- 11 kg for SSS; n = 72, BW =...
