Evaluation of Different Aerification Methods for Ultradwarf Hybrid Bermudagrass Putting Greens

چکیده
Aerification and topdressing are important cultural management practices that help prevent organic matter accumulation soil compaction in golf greens. However, these result surface disruption decreased putting quality during recovery. A 2-year study was conducted on a ‘TifEagle’ hybrid bermudagrass ( Cynodon dactylon × C. transvaalensis ) green to determine the effect of different aerification methods materials properties turfgrass Plots were aerified four times per year (May Aug.) using 1/2-inch hollow tines, 1/4-inch needle tines 2X + 2X, or sand injection, topdressed with either 90:10 (sand:peat) green-dyed sand. Visual quality, normalized difference vegetation index, percent cover, dark color index (DGCI), firmness volumetric water content measured before initial at 7 21 days after aerification. Saturated hydraulic conductivity (K sat (OM) monthly. resulted lower OM higher K compared injection. Sand injection showed highest cover similar 2X. Green-dyed DGCI sand:peat. Using only alternating them is best option decrease while increasing greens; however, their use could slower recovery other methods.

Subsurface Drainage of Modern Putting Greens
Subsurface drainage involves both intensity and capacity attributes. Intensity of subsurface drainage refers to how rapidly a root zone drains. Capacity, on the other hand, refers to the extent of excess (gravitational) water removal from the root zone. Consequently, discussions of putting green drainage often become confused since the expression improved drainage can imply improved drainage ca...
متن کاملGenotypic and phenotypic evaluation of off-type grasses in hybrid Bermudagrass [Cynodon dactylon (L.) Pers. x C. transvaalensis Burtt-Davy] putting greens using genotyping-by-sequencing and morphological characterization
BACKGROUND Interspecific hybrid bermudagrass [Cynodon dactylon (L.) Pers. x C. transvaalensis Burtt-Davy] is one of the most widely used grasses on golf courses, with cultivars derived from 'Tifgreen' or 'Tifdwarf' particularly used for putting greens. Many bermudagrass cultivars established for putting greens can be genetically unstable and lead to the occurrence of undesirable off-type grasse...
