چکیده

ABSTRACT Purpose: to compare the Subfoveal choroidal thickness (SFCT) and Retinal Nerve Fiber Layer Thickness (RNFL) of amblyopic normal fellow eyes. Design: Prospective, cross-sectional, observational case series. Methods: Forty patients age 12 41 years (mean 23.73 ± 6.42) with unilateral amblyopia were studied. Among them, 11(28.2%) had secondary strabismus 29(71.8 %) anisometropic amblyopia. Optical coherence tomography (OCT) peripapillary RNFL eyes was performed. measurements taken from superior, inferior, nasal temporal quadrants in region. Also, subfoveal measured using spectral domain optical (SD-OCT). Results: Mean global 104.48 microns 102.83 microns, respectively. The difference between two groups not statistically significant (p>0.05%). thicknesses retinal nerve fiber layer showed no However, SFCT eye 11 or more thicker than this different (p<0.05%). Conclusions: This study demonstrated significantly process may involve choroid, but prepapillary NFL.

Retinal nerve fiber layer thickness in unilateral amblyopia.

PURPOSE To test the hypothesis that eyes with amblyopia may have thicker retina, retinal nerve fiber layer thickness (RNFLT) was investigated in patients with unilateral amblyopia. METHODS Thirty-eight patients with unilateral amblyopia were studied. Among them, 20 patients had amblyopia with strabismus and 18 had refractive amblyopia without strabismus. Nineteen of 38 had anisometropia of 2....

Retinal nerve fiber layer thickness in recovered and persistent amblyopia

PURPOSE To investigate, using optical coherence tomography (OCT), whether retinal nerve fiber layer thickness (RNFLT) is affected in amblyopic eyes. METHODS Using OCT (Stratus OCT™ [Carl Zeiss, Dublin, CA]), the RNFLT was measured in 26 patients with persistent unilateral amblyopia and in 25 patients with recovered unilateral amblyopia. The RNFLT was compared between the affected and fellow e...

Retinal nerve fiber layer thickness in human strabismic amblyopia.

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Amblyopia is characterized by histopathological changes in the visual cortex and lateral geniculate nucleus. In the retina, however, no abnormalities have yet been reported. The purpose of this study was to compare the nerve fiber layer (NFL) thickness in the amblyopic eye with that in the sound eye of patients with strabismic amblyopia. As a practical implication, we inv...

Macular and retinal nerve fiber layer thickness in unilateral anisometropic or strabismic amblyopia.

PURPOSE To compare the macular and nerve fiber layer thicknesses as measured by optical coherence tomography (OCT) in amblyopic and fellow eyes. METHODS Fifty patients with monocular strabismic (n = 25) or anisometropic (n = 25) amblyopia (best corrected visual acuity (BCVA) ranging from 20/40 to 20/400) were included in a prospective cross-sectional descriptive study. A refractive error more...
