چکیده

Abstract Background Dengue virus (DENV) infection is increasingly common in southern China and can be transmitted through blood transfusion but not currently part of donor screening throughout the region. We assessed DENV prevalence among donors at Xishuangbanna Blood Center, Yunnan, to support development strategies. Methods samples were collected randomly between June 2019 August 2019. These screened for anti-DENV IgG IgM using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Then, all reactive some randomly-chosen non-reactive used detect RNAs real-time polymerase-chain-reaction (RT-PCR) assays. After RT-PCR, further tested soluble nonstructural protein 1 (NS1) colloidal gold method. Donors demographics also assessed. Results Over study period, 2254 by ELISA. This revealed 598 and/or samples, a serological 26.53%. Of these, 26 RT-PCR positive NS1 positive. Significant differences noted occupation ( P = 0.001 ), education < ethnicity 0.026 ). Conclusion The Center was higher than most other centers that have implemented screening. Our provides first-hand data about allows strategy clinical use.

Epidemiological and molecular characteristics of emergent dengue virus in Yunnan Province near the China-Myanmar-Laos border, 2013–2015

BACKGROUND Yunnan Province is located in southwestern China and neighbors the Southeast Asian countries, all of which are dengue-endemic areas. In 2000-2013, sporadic imported cases of dengue fever (DF) were reported almost annually in Yunnan Province. During 2013-2015, we confirmed that a large-scale indigenous DF outbreak emerged in cities of Yunnan Province near the China-Myanmar-Laos border...

Hepatitis C virus infection and genotypes in blood donors

Abstract: Genotyping of the hepatitis C virus (HCV) is important for designing therapeutic strategies and regional specific diagnostic assays. The aim of this study was to identify the HCV genotypes in HCV infected blood donors. This is the first report on HCV genotypes in blood donors in Iran. In this cross-sectional study, 103 blood donors with hepatitis C were investigated for HCV genotype...

Hepatitis E Virus and Serum Level Aminotransferases in Blood Donors

Background: Hepatitis E virus (HEV) infection is a self-limiting viral infection that can lead to severe complications and death. In different regions the epidemiology of this infection varies. In this study we evaluated the seroepidemiology of hepatitis E infection in Jahrom, a city in southern Iran. Methods: This was a cross-sectional descriptive study of serum samples from 477 subjects, i...

IgG Against Dengue Virus in Healthy Blood Donors, Zanzibar, Tanzania

We conducted a seroprevalence survey among 500 healthy adult donors at Zanzibar National Blood Transfusion Services. Dengue virus IgG seroprevalence was 50.6% and independently associated with age and urban residence. These data will aid in building a surveillance, preparedness, and response plan for dengue virus infections in the Zanzibar Archipelago.
