چکیده
As a consequence of the increase in reverse osmosis (RO) desalination plants, number discarded RO modules for 2020 was estimated to be 14.8 million annually. Currently, these are disposed nearby landfills generating high volumes waste. In order extend their useful life, this research study, we propose recycling and reusing internal components modules, membranes spacers, membrane engineering distillation (MD) technology. After passive cleaning with sodium hypochlorite aqueous solution, recycled were reused as support polyvinylidene fluoride nanofibrous prepared by electrospinning technique. The characterized different techniques and, finally, tested saline solutions (brines) direct contact (DCMD). effect time, which is same thickness layer, studied optimize permeate flux together salt rejection factor obtain robust stable DCMD performance. When or spacer used supports 60 min good fluxes achieved, 43.2 18.1 kg m−2 h−1, respectively; very factors, greater than 99.99%. These results reasonably competitive compared other supported unsupported MD membranes. contrast, when using feed support, inhomogeneous structures observed on electrospun layer due special characteristics resulting low factors mechanical properties membrane.

Comparison the performance of different reverse osmosis membrane modules by CFD modeling
Reverse osmosis is a commonly used process in water desalination. Due to the scarcity of freshwater resources and wastewater problems, a lot of theory and experimental studies have been conducted to optimize this process. In the present study, the performance of reverse osmosis membrane module of salt–water separation was simulated based on computational fluid dynamics technique and solution-di...
متن کاملEffect of Organoclay on the Performance of Reverse Osmosis Membrane
This study investigated the effect of Cloisite15A (C15A) organoclay in the substrate layer on the performance of reverse osmosis (RO) membranes. The substrate of the RO membranes was modified using different loading of C15A (ranging from 0.3 - 0.7 wt%) within polysulfone (PSf) substrate and the polyamide (PA) selective layer was formed on the top. Effect of the modified substrate layer on the w...

Nanofibrous membranes of matrimide were successfully fabricated using electrospinning technique under optimized conditions. Nanofibrous membranes were found to be highly hydrophobic with high water contact angle of 130°. FESEM and pore size distribution analysis revealed the big pore size structure of electrospun membranes even greater than 2μm and the pore size distribution is found to be narr...
متن کاملThe Effect of Osmotic Dehydration on Reverse Osmosis Membrane Performance
Akin type (asymmetric) reverse osmosis membranes undergo an irreversible osmotic dehydration upon coming into contact (skin side) with salt solutions. The extent of consequent changes (in appearance; decrease in linear dimension, water flux and salt rejection) are dependent on the salt concentration. These observations are correlated with the expected morphological changes taking place duri...
متن کاملOn Designing of Membrane Thickness and Thermal Conductivity for Large Scale Membrane Distillation Modules
Membrane distillation has the potential to concentrate solutions to their saturation level, thus offering the possibility to recover valuable salts from the solutions. The process performance and stability, however, is strongly dependent upon the features of membranes applied. In addition, several other parameters, membrane thickness and thermal conductivity significantly affect the process per...
