چکیده

Heat-assisted magnetic recording (HAMR) is expected to be a realistic next-generation technology for increasing the density of hard disks. However, layer heated above Curie temperature, and, as result, lubricant desorbed from disk by decomposition and evaporation, which causes problem it adheres air-bearing surface (ABS) smear. In this study, pyrolysis gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (Py-GC/MS) analysis was performed in helium air environments investigate mechanism perfluoropolyether (PFPE) D-4OH heating presence oxygen. environment, thermal end groups confirmed at 350°C with possibility main chain 450°C. group 250°C above, Experiments using pin-on-disk tester were conducted confirm what happens area smear when thin film coated on an actual laser heated. As that decreased even oxygen concentration 5%.

Characterization of Heat-Assisted Magnetic Recording Channels

The storage capacity of hard disk drives has increased tremendously over the last decade. However, the rate of increase has reached a bottle-neck as the technology approaches a theoretical limit known as the super-paramagnetic limit. Heat-Assisted Magnetic Recording (HAMR) has emerged as one of the important technologies to overcome this limit. The process of heating while writing brings about ...

Patterned medium for heat assisted magnetic recording

Heat assisted magnetic recording HAMR is a potential solution to extend the limits of conventional magnetic recording. In HAMR, the heating of the recording medium is achieved with a near-field optical transducer. Although the literature suggests novel transducers, there is little consideration of the optical and thermal aspects of the magnetic medium. In this letter we suggest a recording medi...
