Effects of Indoor Air Curtain and Fan on Cross-Infection Risk for a Space with Displacement Ventilation

Air curtain is an effective control for separating air spaces and reducing the cross-transfer of air, heat, contaminant between different zones. Studies show that displacement ventilation better indoor quality than mixed ventilation. However, may be susceptible to a phenomenon called lock-up, whereby contaminants are held in lower stratified portion space increase infection potential. This study investigates whether circulation fan can reduce lock-up with thus risk across breathing zone. Specially, numerical test conducted explore if side-wall diffuser-integrated vertical slot would sufficient risk. Additionally, fans above occupants applied they phenomenon.
