Effect of drying and storage of corn seeds (Zea mays L.) on postharvest insect pest control in laboratory scales

Abstract Corn is one of the word’s most essential carbohydrate-producing food crops. In addition to being used as a staple for world’s population, corn seeds are also an component animal feed. The purpose this study was determine effect drying and storage time on presence warehouse pest populations. research method carried out by under sun exposure 6 hours/day. experiment consisted four treatments, namely repeated three times. Observations weight loss seeds, population pests, damage intensity. results observations were then analyzed statistical tests followed real difference test. showed that decreased with length process. Drying 18 hours effective in suppressing pests such S. zeamais (197.67 adults) T. castaneum (1.67 adults). affecting significantly affects intensity attack. 24 has lower rate (13.05%) when compared other
