Effect of DIS Attack on 6TiSCH Network Formation

The 6TiSCH standard provides minimum latency and reliability in mission-critical IoT applications. To optimize resource allocation during network formation, IETF released the minimal configuration (6TiSCH-MC) standard. 6TiSCH-MC considered IETF’s IPv6 Routing Protocol for Low power Lossy (RPL) as a routing protocol both upward downward routing. In RPL, new joining nodes or joined transmit DODAG Information Solicitation (DIS) requests to get information from network. However, we observe that malicious node(s) can severely affect networks by sending multiple DIS requests. this letter, show experimentally evaluate on real devices impact of attack formation. We attacker does not need expensive resources access network’s sensitive execute DIS attack . Our testbed experiments significantly degrades nodes’ time energy consumption, increasing them 34% 16%, respectively, compared normal functioning
