Economic prospects of a rubber-cassava agroforestry in Nigeria

A study to determine the financial benefits of intercropping immature rubber plantation with cassava in South Eastern Nigeria was carried out at Rubber Research Institute Nigeria, Iyanomo near Benin City. The set up a randomized complete block design each treatment replicated three times. Yield data generated were used profitability systems. results showed economic yield from as trees did not attain tappable girth throughout duration study. mean about 25.72 tonnes tuber sole treatments for four years period while 22.92 per hectare + intercrop same period. total amount 160,000 Naira spent cost intercropping. Total revenue sales system 900, 000.00 Gross Margin and profit margin 740,000 673, 090.98 respectively. index 0.75, indicating that, 75% invested recovered first compared additional costs incurred treatment.
