Distal Pancreatectomy with Splenectomy in Pancreatic Tail Cyst: Case Report

نویسندگان

چکیده

Pancreatic cyst is a pathological condition characterized by the presence of fluid-filled cavity or sac within pancreatic tissue. It can arise from various etiologies, including chronic pancreatitis, acute duct obstruction, and benign malignant lesions. Histopathological classification cysts reveals distinct subtypes such as pseudopapillary cysts, serous mucinous solid intraductal papillary neoplasms, each exhibiting unique characteristics that influence clinical management. Diagnosis relies on combination imaging modalities ultrasound, computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, well blood tests and, in selected cases, biopsy. Treatment depends several factors, size, location, associated symptoms. Small asymptomatic are often managed with regular surveillance, while symptomatic, large, worrisome may necessitate more aggressive interventions percutaneous drainage surgical intervention. Targeted pharmacological therapy be considered specific cases.

Autoimmune pancreatitis associated with a pancreatic pseudocyst treated by distal pancreatectomy with splenectomy: case report

Autoimmune pancreatitis is a unique type of chronic pancreatitis, which is rarely associated with pseudocyst. A 48-year-old lady was admitted to our department with a rapidly growing cystic mass in the pancreatic tail with an elevated concentration of serum carbohydrate antigen 19-9 (CA19-9). She had a history of autoimmune pancreatitis and received steroid treatment. Imaging studies demonstrat...

Spleen-preserving Distal Pancreatectomy or Distal Pancreatectomy With Splenectomy?

GOALS We designed this study to evaluate the efficacy of spleen salvage during distal pancreatectomy for patients with benign and borderline malignant tumors. BACKGROUND Despite the emphasis on its role, the spleen has commonly been removed in distal pancreatectomy. STUDY From January 2005 to July 2009, 82 patients underwent distal pancreatectomy with splenectomy (DPS) and 78 patients under...

Laparoscopic distal pancreatectomy for a pancreatic lymphoepithelial cyst: case report and review of literature.

CONTEXT Lymphoepithelial cysts of the pancreas are a rare disease of true pancreatic cysts, the cause of which is unknown. The differential diagnosis is broad and includes many benign and malignant cystic lesions of the pancreas and surrounding organs. A combination of imaging modalities and fine needle aspiration might narrow the differential diagnosis. However, the final diagnosis can only be...

Distal pancreatectomy for pancreatic arteriovenous malformation: report of a case

Arteriovenous malformation (AVM) of the pancreas is an uncommon disease, which can cause an abdominal pain. This disease is characterized by a tangled vascular network, including the whole or part of the pancreas, resulting in portal hypertension by forming a shunt of the pancreas arteries to drain directly into the portal venous system. This study presents a case that was suspected as AVM of t...

Distal pancreatectomy: en-bloc splenectomy vs spleen-preserving pancreatectomy.

Distal pancreatectomy with en-bloc splenectomy has been considered the standard technique for management of benign and malignant pancreatic disorders. However, splenic preservation has recently been advocated. The aim of this study was to review the experiences of distal pancreatectomy using the open or the laparoscopic approach and to critically discuss the need to perform splenectomy. Origina...
